Exploring Data

This section includes chapters on data cleaning, data transformation, and summarizing data using the Tidyverse. Most dataviz books typically focus on the visualization part of the data analysis process, but in practice making a good chart usually involves a lot of data cleaning and transformation. In fact, most people spend more time in the preparation phase than the actual chart-making phase when creating a chart, so we felt it was important to first emphasize some important data cleaning and transformation techniques.
